Bio

Since I was sworn into office on January 3rd 2021, I have been hard at work on behalf of the people of New York's 2nd District. I'm proud to serve on the House Small Business Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee where I am the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation. I have introduced 17 pieces of legislation and cosponsored nearly 430 pieces of legislation on behalf of my constituents. From fighting to secure our border and combat rising crime, to working to fully restore the SALT deduction, ensuring our small businesses and restaurants have the adequate funding and resources they deserve, providing important mental health services to our nation's veterans, and cutting through bureaucratic red tape in order to allow our industries to flourish - I remain committed to protecting the safety and prosperity of Long Islanders. 51 pieces of legislation I supported have passed the House of Representatives, including three I introduced - for example, the VSO Support Act, the Small Business Development Center Cyber Training Act, the Cybersecurity Grants for Schools Act of 2022, and the Transit Security Grant Program Flexibility Act. More than 10 pieces of legislation that I supported have made it to the President's desk and have been signed into law, including the Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers for Veterans Therapy Act (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act, Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, and legislation To award posthumously a Congressional Gold Medal, in commemoration to the servicemembers who perished in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021, during the evacuation of citizens of the United States and Afghan allies at Hamid Karzai International Airport, and for other purposes. I'm also pleased to share with you all that my staff has helped over 3,000 constituents through casework, including by returning over $4,000,000 for Long islanders from the federal government, securing over 400 passport renewals, and over 30 emergency visa applications. If you need assistance with a grant application, help with a federal agency, or are interested in a military academy nomination, my staff is ready and able to help.
