Course Description

Course Objective:  To become familiar with the fundamental elements of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture with emphasis on basic expressive and receptive conversational skills. 

Course Description: Communication is the cornerstone of education, but for many students it can also be an obstacle. By studying ASL and Deaf Culture, students, parents, and educators can help create a more positive experience for everyone.

This interactive class will introduce basic ASL vocabulary, fingerspelling, grammar, conversational behaviors, and various aspects of Deaf Culture. Focus will be on teaching communication skills associated with real-life classroom situations, fostering a better understanding of cultural differences, and improving overall communications.
