Class Notes

Target Audience:

Elementary and Middle School Teachers interested in incorporating Computer Aided Design into their curriculum, hosting a Maker Space, or starting a 3D design club.

Prerequisite for Course Participation:

  1. Create a Tinkercad account at Tinkercad.com (You can sign in using your existing Google account by following the instructions on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtBldSKAhVI&t=7s)

  2. Bring an external mouse for your laptop.  With CAD work it is much easier to use an external mouse than a laptop touchpad.

Course Description

This is a one day workshop designed to introduce teachers to TinkerCad, a free, cloud based CAD program that allows students to design 3D objects for 3D printing.  During the workshop teachers will use TinkerCad in example projects aligned to GSE Science & Math Standards, as well as create a plan to incorporate the tool into their own classroom curriculum to reinforce student mastery of chosen standards.
