Course Description
How can we address achievement gaps in our schools?

How can we become more culturally responsive in our growingly diverse schools?

What can I do to ensure equity in my school and classroom?

 

Join West Georgia RESA for a book study that will be the beginning of having critical conversations about race and equity. This group will examine Even on Your Worst Day, You Can Be Your Student’s Best Hope by Manny Scott.

During this course, participants will read Manny Scott's book, Even on Your Worst Day, You Can Be Your Student's Best Hope.

Online discussion boards will provide opportunities for participants to discuss what they are reading.

One face-to-face meeting will allow us to discuss what we have learned during our course and view the movie Freedom Writers.

Participants will be expected to read the book, answer discussion questions, and view the movie to earn PLUs.

Face to Face Meeting: March 18 @ West Ga RESA from 3:30- 6:00

Key Topics: Achievement gap, equity, cultural responsiveness, diversity 

Pre-requisite for workshop & PLUs: Read “Even on Your Worst Day, You Can Be Your Student’s Best Hope by Manny Scott," complete online work, and attend movie screening/review. 

Participant is responsible for purchasing the book. 

As part of this book study you are invited to attend Principal Kafele's session on Closing the Attitude Gap on June 6th at no extra cost. This includes a lunch and learn for those who are interested.
