Course Description

How to Build Schools and Communities of Hope through Student Voice, Community Partnerships, and a Wraparound Services

Leigh Colburn, EdS, The Centergy Project, Ellijay, GA

Linda Beggs, The Centergy Project, Marietta, GA

What happens when early warning systems point to barriers outside of the school’s control?

How do teachers, principals, and school districts address issues of transiency, family changes, poverty, trauma, immigration, addiction, mental, emotional, social, and physical health? Teachers, principals, and more importantly, students, know external factors get in the way of student learning, but don't know what to do about them.

In this training, you will receive an overview of how schools and districts are leveraging community partnerships as well as state and federal resources to holistically meet the family, social & emotional, and academic needs of their students.

Each participant will receive a copy of Solution Tree’s The Wraparound Guide: How to Gather Student Voice, Build Community Partnerships, and Cultivate Hope. In addition to an overview of whole child theory and student-informed wraparound services, the authors of The Wraparound Guide will provide in-depth training related to practical tools for implementing wraparound services:

• 5HHF Holistic Framework Readiness Inventory and Implementation Rubric

• Conversation Circles

• Off-Track Interviews

• Graduation Stories

• Student Voice Needs Survey

• Focus Groups

By empowering the voice of students and coaching districts on how to provide students and families with integrated and coordinated wraparound services, Leigh Colburn and Linda Beggs of The Centergy Project are revolutionizing student support within the public education system.
