Q: I want to come to the workshop but I am not a (S)PAGE member. Can I pay a fee and attend?
Q: Can you recommend a study guide?
The first place to search is the Educational Testing Service (ETS), the publishers of the Praxis Series. You may want to visit the Praxis website at http://www.ets.org/praxis/index.html and click on Study Guides. Unfortunately, many subject areas do not have study guides available for them, but the website will show what is available. For Praxis I, ETS offers the PLATO Pre-Professional Skills Simulated Test. You can read about this at the same address given above in the Study Guides section.
The Public Service Employees Network lists available study guides for Praxis I and Praxis II from a variety of sources on its web site at http://www.pse-net.com/TSGlibraryEd.htm.
Other online bookstores carry study guides that are not available in their stores. Visit a bookstore's website and conduct a search under the keyword "Praxis I" or "Praxis II." Please note that more specialized guides take longer to ship, sometimes as many as 6 weeks or more.
For Praxis I, Academic Resource Services (ARS), offers three study guides: Mathematics, Reading/Writing and Full Series (Mathematics & Reading/Writing). For more information, visit their website at www.arspraxis.org. Also, you can find online practice tests and help at http://www.testprepreview.com/praxis_practice.htm.
For Praxis II, there are several guides available through individual consultants in Georgia. A general guide is available from Rodney Estrada. You may email him at restrada@alltel.net. His guide will also be available at all PAGE Praxis II workshops. Education Leadership guides are available from Fred Haws at fhaws@yahoo.com. Finally, a study guide is available for those preparing to take the Praxis
II Music exam. Email inquiries to Bob Tolton at musicpraxis2000@aol.com.
Remember, Praxis II exams are designed to assess would-be teachers on a wealth of knowledge that is traditionally gained through a comprehensive teacher-preparation program. No study guide can teach you in a few pages what represents months or years of thorough teacher education.
Q: Are you having a Praxis II workshop for my certification (licensure) area?
Q: How much does the workshop cost?
Q: What is a passing score for my exam?
Q: What are the exam dates, and how do I register to take the Praxis?
If your question is not answered here, you may email it to the Praxis Workshops Coordinator at dray@pageinc.org. Good luck on the exam!
