 Enabling legislation for proposed constitutional amendment SR 360

If the State Board of Education adopts a resolution which declares that a school district substantially deviated at any point in the calendar year from the approved course curriculum adopted by the State Board for that year, each resident shall be entitled to claim an exemption from ad valorem taxes for education for $100,000 of the assessed value of that resident's homestead for the year following the adoption of the resolution.

The resident would have to file for the exemption, and the State Board of Education would have to prepare claim forms applicable to each district. 

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:

January 1, 2023 if SR 360 passes by 2/3 in each chamber and by the voters in November 2022
