The bill would raise the compulsory age for school attendance from 16 to 17 and limit adult literacy and technical education to those 17 or older. According to the fiscal note, this would have cost the state $12.7 million in FY '20 (this reflects a deduction for the five mill share). In 2019-2020, there were 3,612 students who dropped out at 16.
