| This legislation changes the procedures of the Georgia Tourism Development Act and the necessary agreements that provide sales tax exemptions for certain projects. This legislation was amended to now include the option for local governments to offer the tourism tax exemption by resolution in the jurisdiction where a tourism project exists. This legislation was also amended to include the language from SB 224 which creates the Invest Georgia Fund as a direct component of the Seed Capital Fund. The legislation provides for the make up of the Board and the process for identifying qualifying early stage or seed businesses.

| This legislation would provide property tax exemptions, occupation tax exemption, regulatory fee exemption and business inspection fee abatement or reduction to businesses with 20 full time employees and a retail inventory of $1 million that locate in an enterprise zone. Under current law, these exemptions are only provided to businesses with 5,000 employees that create at least 10 new full time jobs. |

This legislation changes the composition of the Georgia Tourism Foundation to allow the Governor to appoint members from the Board of Economic Development and others. The hope is to reactivate the Foundation for its original intended purpose which is to solicit and accept money and in kind contributions for the Statewide Tourism Marketing Program which will help attract industry to Georgia. This is another tool in the Economic Development toolbox for Georgia.
