The amendment  allows only the Department of Natural Resources to identify a watercraft as abandoned. 02.08.11 The House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs committee gave this bill a favorable report with an amendment. The amendment reinstated the language "at the risk and expense of the owner," giving the local government agency the ability to recoup its expenses in removing the abandoned vessel if it identifies the owner of an abandoned vessel. 02.01.11 The House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Environmental Affairs 1 subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report. Summary of the bill as introduced: Allows an abandoned watercraft to be removed and disposed of by any government agency that has jurisdiction over the area where the abandoned watercraft is located. This bill also allows a watercraft abandoned for at least 90 days may be claimed by any person or entity as abandoned property.
