Farooq grew up in Gwinnett County. He is the proud son of immigrant parents who moved to the United States from Pakistan, arriving in Lawrenceville, Georgia in 1995. They taught him the values of hard work and integrity. From an early age, his family instilled in him the values of service and the importance of giving back to our community and country. Farooq went on to attend Mercer University in Macon, graduating in 2000 with his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. As a business owner, husband, and father, it is his deep desire is to build a better Georgia for everyone. "I have faced and overcome hard times in my life. I have lived paycheck to paycheck. I have experienced discrimination first-hand. In the past, my family and I faced eviction, and we had to do without health insurance. Facing these struggles, I have never given up on my fight for a better life for my family. My success is a result of many failures. I didn't give up and I want to bring the same hope to my friends and neighbors." Farooq Mughal A THRIVING CAREER Over the past two decades, Farooq Mughal has built a thriving career as a skilled government affairs advisor and political strategist. He combines his skills as a political strategist, civil mediator, and public policy expert providing support and keen advice to public officials and influential business clients. ​In 2008, Farooq founded his own governmental affairs firm, MS Global Partners - Government and Business Advisors, and has grown it into a premier bipartisan public policy firm. His core services provide government entities and minority business owners - Asian Americans, Black, Latino, Veteran, and Women-owned enterprises - strategic advice for their economic development, business expansion, technology, and public engagement needs. He counts among his clients several municipalities, counties, corporate and small business owners with needs wide-ranging needs - healthcare, agriculture, transportation, sports development, and international trade. Previously, Farooq got his first job after graduating from Mercer University at King & Spalding LLP, Atlanta's largest and most prestigious law firm. There, he had the opportunity to work under the supervision of the Hon. Griffin Bell, who had previously served as the 72nd U.S. Attorney General under President Jimmy Carter. He then subsequently served for over two years as a Legal Aide to the Chief Assistant Solicitor General of Gwinnett County, where he conducted legislative research and coordinated seminars for the Prosecuting Attorney's Council of Georgia and Governor's Office of Highway Safety. A COMMUNITY LEADER Farooq has always given his heart to working for the betterment of Georgia's underserved communities. In May 2012, he served on the Steering Committee of the White House Initiatives on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Southeast Regional Summit hosted in Atlanta at Emory University. He also was instrumental in coordinating the first Asian American Legislative Day at the Georgia Capitol. Recognized for his leadership and work, Farooq was invited to the White House in May 2013 to meet President Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden. Farooq's leadership in the political and public policy arena has been recognized by the White House, Congress, two Georgia Governors, and Georgia state legislators.
