Hired a Chief to ensure training and adequate equipment for volunteers. The resulting lower ISO rating reduced insurance premiums for homes, schools and businesses located within a five-mile radius of a substation. o Participated with a number of counties in the Coastal Georgia Region to provide transportation services at an affordable rate for citizens to travel to and from appointments in any of the participating counties. o Implemented fiscally sound policies and procedures to reduce expenses and avoided furloughing employees. o Completed a new building for the Georgia State Patrol Office. o Approved projects to be funded by SPLOST referendums, such as the new Bulloch County jail, the 911 Public Safety Center, road paving and resurfacing, Statesboro Airport improvements, a new animal shelter and a new Luetta Moore Community Center. Brooklet City Council h Elected in 1995 and re-elected in 1999. h Key Achievements o Assisted in writing and coordinating a grant application to secure Department of Community Affairs funding to construct the existing Brooklet Community Recreation Building. o Worked with the Mayor and Council to obtain an upgraded water system and water storage tank to accommodate the town as well as the schools in the surrounding area of Brooklet. The success of this project was due to a collaborative planning and funding effort by the Board of Education, Bulloch County Board of Commissioners and Brooklet City Council. o Reduced insurance premiums for the residents, businesses and schools in the Brooklet area due to the improved water system and fire flow protection. o Led negotiations with the Board of Education to retain city ownership of the old Brooklet Elementary School cafeteria property, later converted into the current Brooklet City Hall building.
