Bio

Maggie Nurrenbern's life of service started long before her time as a Missouri Legislator. After graduating from Smithville High School and earning a bachelor's degree from Truman State University, Maggie and her husband Gregg volunteered to serve in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, working in education and public health. Maggie returned to Kansas City to earn her master's degree from UMKC and then went on to teach at University Academy and North Kansas City High School before being elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2020. As a former teacher, and union and PTA member, Maggie has brought focus and expertise to education policy in the Missouri House. She understands that great schools are the foundation of a strong community. Working With Our Clay County Community Maggie has worked directly with law enforcement to ensure our community is protected and treated fairly. Maggie is proud of her family's legacy of first responders. Her great-great grandpa, Dan Ahern Sr., served as Chief of Police of Kansas City and later on the Police Board. Her great-grandpa, Dan E. Ahern, served as a firefighter and Secretary-Treasurer for IAFF Local 42 and her grandpa, Dan P. Ahern, served as a captain for KCFD and proud member of Local 42. As a fourth-generation union member, Maggie will always stand up for a strong economy that works for our families. Maggie is extremely involved in her community including being a board member of Feed Northland Kids, and a member of the Northland and Gladstone Chambers of Commerce, Oakwood Manor PTA and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Maggie and Gregg have three sons, Luke, Eli and Henry, and a rescue dog named Messi.
