Deputy Speaker John J. Burzichelli, a lifelong resident of New Jersey, grew up in Paulsboro, Gloucester County, where he currently resides. John Burzichelli represents the Third Legislative District.
John Burzichelli served as Mayor of Paulsboro from 1996 to 2011 and began his legislative career in January of 2002, serving as state Assemblyman. John Burzichelli is presently an Assembly Deputy Speaker for the New Jersey General Assembly.4.10.14-JB-Assembly-Podium
Burzichelli is managing partner of Hill Studio and Scenic in Paulsboro, which provides studio services and special effects to the motion picture, video and still photography industry. He is one of the founding members of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Paulsboro, and a Past President of the Greater Paulsboro Chamber of Commerce.
Deputy Speaker Burzichelli serves as the Chair to the Assembly Appropriations Committee and as Vice-Chair to the Assembly Budget Committee. He also serves on the Legislative Services Commission and the Joint Budget Oversight Committee. In October 2007, Deputy Speaker Burzichelli was named to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Intergovernmental Advisory Committee where he helped review the crucial digital television transition that occurred on June 12, 2009.
In 2010, Governor Christie appointed Burzichelli as a permanent member of the former New Jersey Red Tape Review Commission. The Commission examined and overhauled many portions of New Jersey's regulatory system.
Throughout his career, Deputy Speaker Burzichelli has received numerous awards for his legislative service. He has been honored by the New Jersey Alliance for Action, the Sons of Italy New Jersey Foundation, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Business and Industry Association, and most recently by the New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs. |
