Bio

Growing up, Shawn's parents raised him on their dairy farm in Monroe County. Shawn milked cows, raised dairy heifers and hogs, and grew tobacco. He attended 1st through 8th grade at Fountain Run and graduated high school from Gamaliel. Shawn was a member of FFA during high school. He earned his BS in Agri-Business and MS in Animal Nutrition at Western Kentucky University. In college, Shawn worked in a hardware store before landing a job at the Kentucky Department of Transportation, as a staff appraiser. After about 7 years with the state department, Shawn began his own appraisal business. He continues his contract work to this day, is well-versed in the process, and has developed strong relationships in the field. Shawn is more than ready to put his knowledge to use for our residents, improving and pushing for better roads and infrastructure. Shawn enjoys volunteering his expertise on development projects within his community and he is a fierce advocate for others. For the past 20 years, Shawn has been the CFO of family-owned assisted living facilities in Glasgow and Providence. He takes great pleasure in running his businesses, working on budgets and implementing better ways to provide healthcare for employees. Shawn has a great deal of experience in healthcare, especially in relation to elder care and living. Shawn is the current chairman of the UK Extension Board. He is also on the AG Developmental Board and the PVA Tax Appeal Board, along with being the treasure for the Meador Volunteer Fire Department for the past 27 years. Shawn has had the opportunity to work with state and federal politicians, such as Congressman James Comer, Senator David Givens, Representative Steve Riley and Representative Bart Rolland. He has also work closely with local County Judge Executives and Mayors. Using his civic and business experience, Shawn would like to help Kentucky with the challenges that lay ahead. He believes our government leaders have a huge responsibility to reopen businesses and improve job growth throughout Kentucky. More than anything, Shawn is ready for this next step and the chance to voice the needs and concerns of his community.
