This is the omnibus gun carry bill of 2014. It was enhanced in the Senate Judiciary Non-Civil Committee to successfully address ACCG's three objections to the original bill. Specifically the substitute:

- allows local governments to determine whether or not guns are allowed in their government buildings, regardless of whether metal detectors or security screening is provided; 

- removes the provision prohibiting law enforcement from detaining persons illegally carrying guns without licenses; and

-removes the "private right of action" provision allowing any special interest group or individual (whether or not aggrieved) to sue counties and county officials statewide.

ACCG urges you to encourage your legislators to adopt the Senate version of HB 875 or adopt no version at all.

This legislation makes changes to the duties of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Child Advocate for the Protection of Children, the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel, county child abuse protocol committees, and county child fatality review committees. The legislation also changes the portions of child abuse and dependency records that may be redacted under the open records law.

This legislation would allow businesses that are required to have human trafficking hot line notices posted on their premises to create their own notice that must be approved by the Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).  Under current law, these notices may only be developed by the GBI.

This legislation creates a Joint Select Committee on Budget Dependence on Federal Funding. The committee will study the percentage of the state budget funded by federal money, as well as the impact of federal fiscal policy reducing or eliminating federal funding for state governments.
