This legislation adds emergency management professionals to the list of public safety officials who are entitled to benefits under the state's indemnification fund.  It also eliminates the licensing of private rescue organizations, marine squadron rescue and search and rescue dog teams by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency Director.

This legislation requires county emergency management agencies and health departments (once they are notified by the Environmental Proteciton Division) to place a public notice when there is a spill of pollutants that is reasonably expected to be a hazard to the public health and safety, to private and public drinking water supplies, or to animals, birds or aquatic life.

This legislation prohibits the use of any type of aircraft (manned or unmanned) to operate 100 feet or closer to private property for purposes of "searching or engaging in surveillance" without a search warrant or permission of the property owner.

This is the omnibus gun carry bill of 2014. It was enhanced in the Senate Judiciary Non-Civil Committee to successfully address ACCG's three objections to the original bill. Specifically the substitute:

- allows local governments to determine whether or not guns are allowed in their government buildings, regardless of whether metal detectors or security screening is provided; 

- removes the provision prohibiting law enforcement from detaining persons illegally carrying guns without licenses; and

-removes the "private right of action" provision allowing any special interest group or individual (whether or not aggrieved) to sue counties and county officials statewide.

ACCG urges you to encourage your legislators to adopt the Senate version of HB 875 or adopt no version at all.

The audit shall make recommendations for utilizing geospatial data capabilities to meet FEMA notification requirements, recommendations for moving forward to achieve governmental data interoperability and enhanced delivery of services to Georgia's citizens through the geospatial approach.

This legislation allows broadcasters to obtain "first informer broadcaster" certification from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. It would allow these broadcasters to have access to their equipment or structures to make repairs to allow the broadcaster to continue broadcasting during an emergency. It also allows them to have access to the distribution of fuel, food, water, supplies and other materials to maintain or produce a broadcast signal. Finally, it would make their vehicles, fuel, food, water and other materials not subject to being seized during an emergency.
